seen: 2026-10-30, cube design (this website, cube-design.selimssevgi.com), the violations page on a phone. selim: "the violation screen which we have on the cube design, it's violating one of its own principles … this page i am looking at now, it's built using the listing of the items. and we said listing or tabular data are violations to cube design principles. the first thing is to use cube representation. and also the navigation is like zooming out." and: "i want to go back, but this zooming out is not working in the screen. so what happens? i need to go back once."

breaks: 13 (cube design is a cube too), 2 and 12 (the cube is the viewfinder; the reordering is the product), 1 (no axis is the master), 24 (a face is a complete square), 25 (going out of a piece is zooming out), 22 (small letters first), and the screen shape of 05-patterns.md.
why it feels wrong:
- the page that collects violations is one. each violation is a thing with a name and with what it says (seen, breaks, why, how, status): a piece with its faces. the page wrote them one after another under numbers, so the only grouping was the order they were written in, a master axis (1), and there was nothing to turn (12). it is the list cube design was made to replace, on the page that teaches what not to do.
- a cube on top, a document below. the page had the cube in its circle, but under it a text, not the cube's pieces: the screen shape kept in form and broken in meaning, as in violation 1.
- no way out but the arrow. the site meant two fingers to step out, but on a phone the browser took them to zoom the page, and on a computer ctrl and the wheel (a trackpad's pinch) did nothing. going out of a piece took the ‹ in the corner, the load principle 25 names.
- the rest of the site, seen while looking. the cube design cube's own tiles sat three across, so thirteen pieces and a pale one read as a list that wrapped (24), and the group names and table headings were made capital by a style (22).
how it could follow:
- a file whose sections are numbered (
## 1. ...) is a cube of its own: each section is a piece. the violations page shows its pieces as tiles in a complete square, turned (‹ ›, a swipe on the cube, the arrow keys) by two kinds read from the lines every violation keeps: where it was seen and what happened to it (cube.json,insides). a violation whose line says nothing a value knows is not known yet. the text on how a violation is written lies across, below the square. - a tap or two fingers spreading on a tile goes into the violation (
/violations/<n>/): its colours on each kind and the principles it breaks on top, then what it says. - two fingers together (on a phone), ctrl and the wheel or a trackpad's pinch (on a computer) and escape go one level out: a violation to the violations, the violations to cube design. the ‹ stays.
- every face of the site, the home one too, sits in the smallest square that holds it, as many across as the screen holds with full rows, open places outlined; no capitals are made by a style.
- what is left: other pieces still read as one text (the principles as a numbered list, the decisions as a table, how it grew as a list). each may open as a cube the same way once it is clear which of its lines are kinds; kept here as seen.
status: fixed in cube-design#3 (merged 2026-10-30).
